Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020 March

I'm sitting in our home under self quarantine after our family trip to Las Vegas for 311 day, watching our world fight what must go down in history as the worst pandemic in history, or at least in my lifetime. I have never experienced anything like this before and we are just now in the beginning.

I first took note of what was going on in late January, on January 23, 2020 Wuhan and three other cities are put on lockdown. Right around this time, approximately 5 million people leave the city without being screened for the illness.

Jan. 24–30: China celebrates the Lunar New Year holiday. Hundreds of millions of people are in transit around the country as they visit relatives.

Jan. 24: China extends the lockdown to cover 36 million people and starts to rapidly build a new hospital in Wuhan. This building would only take the Chinese government 10 days. From this point, very strict measures continue to be implemented around the country for the rest of the epidemic. At this point the whole world eyes are on China, watching, judging and doing nothing to protect their own countries.

What did the Coronavirus Start at?

News is reporting the source of the Coronavirus is believed to be a 'wet market' in Wuhan which sold both dead and live animals including fish and birds.

Such markets pose a heightened risk of viruses jumping from animals to humans because hygiene standards are difficult to maintain if live animals are being kept and butchered on site. Typically, they are also densely packed.

The animal source of the Coronavirus has not yet been identified, but the original host is thought to be bats. Bats were not sold at the Wuhan market but may have infected live chickens or other animals sold there.

On January 24, 2020, my family is aware of the growing problem is China but unaware it's growing danger to us. We are in Winter Park about to celebrate Issiah's 16th birthday.

On January 27, 2020, Issiah's 16th Birthday, We are headed home from our Winter Park Birthday Weekend and the reports on the virus are starting to grab more national attention.

106 people have died from the outbreak of the Coronavirus. But the US media insist the seasonal flu kills 30,000 Americans every year and the Coronavirus is to take the attention away for the 2020 election.

January 27, 2020: Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam said Tuesday that the semi-autonomous city would cut its rail links to mainland China and flights would be reduced, though the measures stopped short of a total closure of the border, per the AP.

The U.S. State Department raised its travel advisory for China to "Level 3: Reconsider travel" this week because of the virus. Last week, the department raised the advisory for the Hubei province, where Wuhan is located, to "Level 4: Do Not Travel."
Officials in China have extended the Lunar New Year holiday until Feb. 2, instead of Jan. 30 as scheduled, in an attempt to stop people from traveling and spreading the respiratory illness, Bloomberg reports.
The U.S. Embassy in Beijing plans to evacuate its Wuhan consulate personnel and some private citizens on a limited-capacity charter flight to San Francisco, per AP, which reports that those "at greater risk from coronavirus" would be prioritized over others.

Impact in the U.S.: Five Americans — all of whom traveled in Wuhan, China, and are now in California (2), Arizona, Washington state, and Chicago — have contracted the virus.

January 30, 2020 he reports 1 case from China, when WHO reports 5 America and a Global Public Health Emergency.

January 31, 2020: President Trump bans Foreign Nationals from entering into the US if traveled to China in the last 2 weeks.

The kids are off to school and I spend the day organizing and cleaning. I'm on a roll with house projects.

February 2, 2020: President Trump announces the Virus was shut down from coming into the US.

February 7, 2020: The Chinese Whistle-blower Li Wenliang dies of the Coronavirus at the age of 33. He was one of the first Doctors to recognize the Virus and report it.

I've still working on house projects, adding wood to Layden's room behind his bed. Chris is still going into work and the kids are at school today.

February 8, 2020: The First American dies in Wuhan - this is the first American death from the coronavirus.

February 9, 2020: Death Toll in China surpasses that of the 2002-2003 SARS epidemic, with 811 deaths recorded.

February 10, 2020: President Trump delivers a statement in the East Room of the White House said 'a lot of people - including Chinese President Xi Jinping - thought the coronavirus would go away in April.'

"A lot of people think that goes away in April, with the heat that comes in."

February 11, 2020: WHO announces that the new coronavirus will be called "COVID-19"

Issiah and I go to Children's Hospital North Campus for an MRI of his foot. We wear face mask and sit away from the sick. I'm starting to worry about the Virus in the US.

February 12, 2020: Coronavirus cases start to spike in South Korea.

Chris and I celebrate Valentine's Day. I give him 10 rounds of golf, he give me a Cameo from Nick Hexum Called Missy Rae. Best gift ever.

February 14, 2020: Fucken President Trump announces 'historically the warm weather kills the virus'.

Athena's 13th Birthday. We plan many small things throughout the day to celebrate her.

February 19, 2020: Iran outbreak begins

I warn the kids to the Virus, trying to scary them into washing their hands.

February 20, 2020: Athena is home sick... very sick. I take her into the Children's Hospital ER to be sense. Her vitals signs show red flags and she is taken back immediately. The doctor thinks the flu but doesn't test her, thinks possible Strep. Athena symptoms are pain in her neck and shoulders, her throat is sore, fever, vomiting, fatigue, runny nose, body aches. He complaining of neck pain made me think Meningitis, this was the reason I took her in to the ER. Turns out to be strep. But we think something more.

February 21, 2020: Italy outbreak begins.

Ryleigh spends the day with me prepping for his Rolling Hills Tennis Tournament this evening. Chris and I start becoming acutely aware of sick people around us.

February 23, 2020: Scrapbooking day at the Ranch Country Club, the girls are all talking about the virus. A couple of the ladies are sick, but no one sense to think COVID -19 in here. They think it's still political.

February 25, 2020: Our moron fucken President Trump announces that everyone is getting better.

Issiah and I are back at Children's Hospital to have his cast removed.

February 26, 2020: Our Shameful Fucken Moron President Trump says 'the 15 cases in the US in a couple of days will be down to zero.'

I voted.

February 27, 2020: This moron in the white house named Trump says it will be like a miracle and disappear.

I'm at the doctors. Neck pain, hard to breathing, cough, and pain in my back, fatigue, and I'm dizzy. My doctor asked me what I thought I had... I say a stoke. She thinks Bronchial Spasms. She's a moron.

February 28, 2020: Fuck Face Trump says we will all be fine.

Layden has been sick are the last week in bed. Today I tried to get him out of the house and have breakfast with me but that did go well. He didn't talk to me.

I get my nails done for 311 Day. The nail salon reports lower numbers of clients.

I also feel like shit, my neck in getting worst, and my chest hurts so back I start acid reflux meds.

March 6, 2020: Trump falsely reports again, 'Our numbers are lower than anybody.

I had a breakfast date with Chris, went to Target and brought sanitizing wipe, then went to scrapbooking retreat for the next 3 days at a hotel full of people, and 100 ladies. I washed my hands so much and tried my hardest not to touch to many things, or hug people.

March 8, 2020: Italy places all 60 million residents on lockdown.

I'm scrapbooking.

March 10, 2020: His stupidity is getting worst, when asked about what actions he is going to take he reply 'lots of good things are going to happen.

Layden gets tested for Glaucoma. His eye pressure was a bit high, Optic nerve is large, and his retina is thin. But we will test again in 6 months.

Went and meet with Dr. King who got us prepared for our trip to fight against the virus.

March 11, 2020: WHO declare the outbreak a pandemic. Trump announces the US is responding with 'great speed and professionalism'. President Trump bans all travel from 26 European countries.

311 Day. Flying to Las Vegas. Almost cancelled but here we go.

Family is still in Vegas for 311 Day part 2. Lots on hand washing during the day but at night everyone for gets.

March 13, 2020: a US national emergency is declared over the novel coronavirus outbreak. President Trump announces he 'doesn't take responsibility for the outbreak in the US'. Asshole.

Our eyes are opening to what is happening around us.

Ryleigh and I still are coughing and sneezing, with a runny nose.

We sleep in until noon. Then head to breakfast.

Eat HUGE meals so we can spend the rest of the day at the hotel before going to the 3rd and final show of 311 day.

We headung home.

Frontier Airline is still not cleaning their planes. This time looks like vomit.

March 15, 2020: Moron President Trump says 'its all going to be great, we are going to come out of this and its going to be good.'

We put our family in stuff quarantine. Day 1

I feel like shit, fever, chest pain, body aches, and my neck pain is back. I spend the day in bed, when i'm not sleeping I' looking at 311 Day photos and Blogging. Chris is filled with anxiety.

March 16, 2020: Trump announces 'COVID-19 just came up, it came up so suddenly."

Day 2: I have to go grocery shopping, and I fear there isn't any food from the panic shopping.

When I get to the store, I shop for a while and then I start sweating and feeling hot.

I got home, and started feeling better so thought it might be exhaustion causing the problem.

I was able to get more food then I thought I was going to be able to get. No eggs, only 2 lbs of beef, no baking supplies like flour and sugar. I didn't need TP or paper towels luckly.

Look at all this junk food. We are going to have to ration the junk food.

Kids are happy to be in quarantine and ready to help. We will see how long this last.

We are making our new schedule, sleep in, chores, free day, and family dinner cooking.

March 17, 2020: A leak feberal plan warns the new coronavirus pandemic 'will last 18 months or longer' and may come in mulitple waves of infections.

Italy reports 475 COVID -19 deaths, the highest single -day death toll for any country since the outbreak began.

Moron President Trump announces 'this is a pandemic, I felt it was a pandemic long before it was a pandemic. All you have to do is look at the other countries. When asked if he was worried about the pandemic " no, not at all. We have it totally under control.

Day 3 of quarantine: St. Patrick's Day

I'm trying to scrapbook but my focus just isn't there. Still feeling like shit.

March 18, 2020:

Day 4 of quarantine: Family Dinners are getting exciting. Tonight Homemade Dumplings

Layden's first meal of the day 15 minutes after waking up at 12:30pm.

Chris and I are going to try it first before bring down the kids to help with dinner.

March 16, 2020 there were 182, 402 confirmed cases. 32,487 new case in 2 days. 1,598 death. This is so sad. All I do is worry about my grandparents.

March 19, 2020: Globally, authorities report more than 240,000 confirmed cases of COVID -19, with about 145, 000 active and ongoing cases, roughly 85,000 recoveries, and 10,000 deaths.

Day 5 of quarantine. We are starting to get settle in with our new life in quarantine.

Athena made a pandemic cake. It was delicious.

During this time of the none known, it is our family that we fight for and that bring us together.

I'm happy to see the snow come it. It's nice to watch the snow.

Day 8 of Quarantine

Sunday. Rest day of being lazy and then we have to get back into our routines.

March 23, 2020:

Day 9 of Quarantine

First day of Spring Break and we are deep cleaning the house.

Issiah always works hard.

Fourteenth year old Layden doesn't smile. Dishes are fun.

I so appreciate the hard work from the kids.

Layden likes only a hand full of food: Sugar, sushi, and salads. I made a salad for me and he eat my salad.

And now Chris is taking over my salad. It was that good.

Everyday we watch the numbers raise. Today we pass Spain. I just hope our death toll doesn't keep going up.

New York is hit the hardest. I watch Colorado and New York.

March 24, 2020:

Day 10 of Quarantine

Starting my day out with vitamins. Staying healthy is extremely important during this time.

Athena and I got out for a walk today. She brought along phoenix, I brought Bentley.

Athena spent the day braiding my hair (painful) and watching netflix in my scrapbooking room while I scrapbooked. She took over my TV

Dinner. Yummy.

Layden spent 3 hours outside playing basketball.

Issiah and Ryleigh spent the day playing video games. They are loving quarantine life.

Came out of my scrapbook room to find phones... This is awesome. Everyone is outside playing together.

The number is jumping up every day. The spread is growing around the world.

This is shameful, when the president cares more for the economic then our safety. I truly believe Trump is not willing to understand the severity of this.

We are starting to see the injuries to the medical workers. And they still do not have PPE

Easter is just weeks away and Trump is clueless to what a pandemic is. Maybe someone should educate him on the Spanish Flu.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is grabbing the world's attention with his leadership and his communication.

The numbers from the morning to the night are very alarming.

I look at the numbers in the morning and then in the evening. It's looking a lot like what is happening in Italy.

March 25, 2020:

Day 11 of Quarantine

COVID-19 is scary, everyday I wake up hearing the news about elderly death. I can't help to want to see my grandparents. We've been back from Vegas for 11 days with no major symptoms, so today Athena and I are driving to see them. We will be 6 feet part, outside, with masks on. I want to see them and let them know how much I love them.

Athena and I are off. 2 hours drive to Pueblo West to visit the grandparents.

First stop Grocery store. I wanted to bring the grandparents snacks and goodies they love to keep them happy during the lock down.

The traffic is heavier then I thought it would be. We are taking the HOV lane.

We got into Pueblo but still need to make one more stop for Milk and a gift for grandma Debbie. Easter is right around the corner.

Grandpa wanted to show me something (a satellite) but he was getting to close to me. I run and laugh 'get away old man'. He laughed so hard but then he was sad I ran away. I had to remind him of COVID.

Grandma was getting chilly so she went inside. I sat next to the door while she said inside to just talk about whatever.

We were there for about 2 hours but the time went by so fast. I didn't want to leave but we just hear the stay at home order is starting tomorrow.

Athena and I have not had anything to eat today, so on the way home we are stopping for food.

Athena took us into the army base. 20 minutes in the wrong direction. And we can't get in. WTF

When we got home the boys were home playing basketball. It was nice to see them outside enjoying the day.

The US is trending as the worst country in terms of infection rate.

I started watching New York's Governor COVID-19 Update. He's a strong leader and that is what we need right now.

Colorado's Governor Jared Polis ordered a statewide Stay-At-Home Order begin March 26th.

These is so funny, as everyday I'm having the kids walk Bentley. He's getting 4 walks a day.

March 26, 2020: Stay - at - Home Order

Day 12 of Quarantine

17,224 Cases and 268 Death in the US

First thing in the morning we all received a Public Safety Alert on our phones. I personally really appreciate our governor putting our health safety first.

What does it mean to be under the Stay - at - Home Order.

The Kindness Pandemic: Around the world people are coloring the sidewalks with chalk to spread the love.

3.28 million US Citizens lost their jobs the day of Lock Out.

Finding ways to entertain ourselves.

Issiah came down in the morning for his morning chat and to tell us about the public Safety order. His reaction was cute, he was in disbelief that the government was able to send out this message to everyone. I think at first he thought he was a lucky one of the few who got the message.

After our 311 trip and our all ready crazy fast pace life, I was wondering when the kids would get bored and want out. But they are happy with the stay - at - home order. Nothing to do feels good.

Ryleigh was next. I'm loving the moments every morning when the kids come to talk to me. Just a small check in. Plus I love seeing their faces when they wake up.

Ryleigh was showing me how long his hair is getting and wondering about hair cuts. It's going to be a long time before we get hair cuts.

I've starting a COVID-19 Scrapbook. I can't help but to think in the future (20 years from now) how cool it will be to look back at all our experience of COVID-19.

March 27, 2020:

Day 13 of Quarantine, Day 2 of Stay - at - Home Order

Starting Healthy. We are back on a healthy track.

I did a large grocery shop at costco to keep us home and safe.

Food is all over the kitchen as we organize and clean the kitchen and the food to make sure we are not being in the Virus to our home. This is so different, but we will do what we need to do to keep us safe.
