- The US set a record number of new coronavirus cases in a single day yesterday, with more than 50,000 new infections reported. And at least 23 US states have paused or rolled back reopening plans.
- Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order requiring residents of counties with 20 or more Covid-19 cases to wear a mask in public.
- Unemployment rates have skyrocketed in some Latin American countries as case numbers surge.
- The Middle East is at a “critical threshold” in the outbreak as countries have started to ease lockdowns and the pandemic speeds up, the regional WHO director said
Black Lives Matter
- Protests over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota, entered its eighth day across the US. One former officer was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter — but protesters and critics believe the charge isn't harsh enough.
- President Trump vowed yesterday to use the military if widespread violence isn't quelled, as peaceful protesters just outside the White House gates were dispersed with tear gas.
- Experts hired by George Floyd's family and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner have concluded his death was a homicide.

- Infections are up in at least 36 US states as the country heads into Fourth of July weekend. Officials fear the holiday could bring a surge in cases, and they are urging Americans to limit festivities to avoid more outbreaks.
- Anyone traveling from the US to England will have to self-isolate for 14 days starting on July 10. The US was not included in the UK’s list of countries exempt from these measures.

Black Lives Matter
- All four former Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd's killing have been charged, the Minnesota attorney general announced.
- Charges were elevated for one former officer from third to second-degree murder. The other former officers will be charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.
- Protesters continue to rally across the US, and memorial services to honor Floyd will take place in Minnesota, Texas and North Carolina over the course of six days. The Minneapolis service will occur tomorrow

Black Lives Matter

- The former Atlanta officer who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks faces 11 charges, including felony murder, the Fulton County district attorney announced.

- China on Tuesday recorded more than 100 new cases for the first time since April. It's also the country's third straight highest daily spike in local infections since early March.
