Issiah, I cannot believe that we are celebrating your 17th birthday. This is your last birthday before you are officially an adult.
The pressure I’ve put on you and the pressure that I have put on myself has sometimes been too much. I really wanted to be perfect for you and our family. Over the recent years, I have started to learn that perfection isn’t an option. But growth always is. You are the definition of growth.
I want you to know, I am so proud of you, of who you are, of the decisions you make, and the path that you’re on. I know that you’ll be ok as you start to journey on more without me. But don't move too far away from your roots (dad and I).
I always wanted to be your mom, and I am so grateful that you chose us. I am so lucky I get a front row seat to your journey, and get to a be a part of it every step of the way.
