Getting lost in the City of Melbourne

It's July 9, 2011, we been living in Australia for just over 2.5 months. It's hard to believe that there is still so much to see and explore. We wanted to explore the Melbourne's Parks and Gardens.

The Shrine of Remembrance, based on a description of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus in Asia Minor, honors soldiers who gave their lives in war.

The kids ran up the stairs so fast. We were excited about the stairs and nothing else. Chris and I were more curiosity our the The Shrine of Remembrance.

They are so little.

The Pioneer Women's Garden was built in 1934 to honor the memory of Victoria's founding women.

The boys were excited to put their hands in the water. If given the chance they would have jumped in.

A view of the city of Melbourne.

Royal Botanic Garden and Kings Domain

These adjoining gardens were created on the bend of the Yarra River before the river was straightened. The Botanic Gardens host an exotic mix of native and non-native flora, while Kings Domain, with mature trees and extensive lawns, is the site of The Shrine of Remembrance and Government House.

I finally got the boys to stop to take a picture.

Flinders Street Station remains Melbourne's busiest rail terminus and one of the most recognizable sights in the city.
