Mum's Day at The Royal Botanical Garden's
The boys in front of the entry to the Royal Botanical Gardens.
The Royal Botanical Garden an inner-city oasis. More than 8,500 plant species from around the world are presented in a kaleidoscope of color and texture. Sweeping lawns, tranquil lakes and majestic trees are home to an amazing range of wildlife.
Ryleigh and Layden enjoyed jumping on rocks and catching birds.
The boys played Starwars as we explore the Botanical Gardens
I believe this tree is a Fern Gully. A cool forest tress of Australasia that grows well in the Melbourne Climate.
A view of Melbourne from RBG Rose Garden.
The Rose Garden
He just wants to chase every bird he sees...
And daddy lets him.
Ryleigh chasing Layden, Layden chasing a bird. Mom and dad just hopping they don't fall.
We came across a small pond with black swans. It stopped us in our tracks, we had never seen a black swan.
Parts of the lake system at Melbourne Gardens are remnants of a natural water system that pre-dates European settlement of Melbourne.
The black swan is a large waterbird, a species of swan which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. Within Australia they are nomadic, with erratic migration patterns dependent upon climatic conditions.
They have red eyes
The boys were excited when the swan came over for some food.
We just can't stop this love and curiosity for animals
We stopped to eat a small snack, buy a Black swan stuffed animals, and an umbrella.
Getting out of the rain at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
They loved it.
Ryleigh didn't like the tag.
The rain stopped and the playing started up again.
